A sweet skit about true hospitality and genuine kindness preceded my talk this past Sunday. The event was a ladies gathering at my home church and some very special women were the actors. These ladies were influential in my spiritual upbringing and they continue to teach me and show God’s love in very genuine ways.
And yes, the cookies were delicious! 😉 ❤️

Is there anything more inviting than a room full of tables, set with seasonal decor and individual desserts just waiting for you to choose a spot? I had the opportunity to speak at a church in Early, IA for a women’s gathering last Tuesday. I was shown the most pure hospitality. I think the thing I loved most was the little prayer card that was at each place setting, instructing you to sing the prayer with those at your table when your table was full. Hearing different groups sing as the tables filled added another dimension to the meal-time experience. To top it off? They sent me home with bonus cupcakes!!

I don’t know why I took this picture. Yes, the image of the utility pole in the side mirror of our vehicle caught my attention. I decided to snap it. The message revealed itself as soon as I looked at the photo: Objects in mirror are closer than they appear”.
Look closely … 3 crosses. Look closer … zoom in … 4.
I think of that 4th cross as mine.
My contribution to Christ’s sacrifice. My sin. My failure.
And yet … that front and center cross is closer than it appears. God is close. He is present. He is my saving grace and my salvation.
He is close.
He is closer than we think.
