State Fair Turkey Meatballs

All the flavors of State Fair giant turkey legs in bite-sized meatballs. This simple recipe is sharable fun for dinner!

  • 2 pounds ground turkey
  • 2 cups bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • green onions


  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil divided


  • In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, bread crumbs, egg, egg yolk, and minced onion.
  • In another bowl, combine Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, smoked paprika, brown sugar, black pepper, and 1/4 cup of the vegetable oil.
  • Pour half of the sauce mixture over the meatball mixture and stir to combine.
  • Using a cookie scoop (1.5" diameter), form meat mixture into balls. Set aside.
  • Drizzle 1/8 cup of vegetable oil into a large skillet over medium heat. Cook half the meatballs, rotating frequently to brown well on all sides (6-8 minutes).
    Browning Meatballs
  • Pour half of the remaining sauce over the meatballs and simmer until meatballs are fully cooked (3-4 minutes).
    Saucing the Meatballs
  • Remove from pan to serving plate or dish. Loosely cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.
  • Repeat cooking process for remaining meatballs and sauce.
  • Sprinkle meatballs with thinly sliced green onions and serve!


This recipe makes approximately 3.5 dozen meatballs.
