I think the reason I like to decorate, inside and I think the reason I like to decorate, inside and out, with old pieces is the history that they represent. There are stories in all of these pieces … some I know and some I don’t. There’s a feeling of comfort, of being well loved (or at least well used and appreciated) in them and it draws me in.
Do any of these pieces call to you?

This morning, I spent some time in my garden which This morning, I spent some time in my garden which is not unusual in itself. THIS morning though, I spent some time just being IN my garden. I drank my coffee, took some photos, and really just enjoyed the “perfection of beauty”. That does not mean there were no weeds or bugs or unhealthy plants. Tomorrow I will tackle those.
But today I focused on the beauty: God’s great detail and variety.

“The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.” ‭‭
(Psalm‬ ‭50‬:‭1-2)
These verses seemed appropriate for this video of my sunflowers, now taller than me, with their bold heads always, always facing the sun.
Where do you see God shining forth today? 🌻
Everything’s coming up lettuce 👉sunflowers 👉 beets 👉 sweet peas 👉 eggplant 👉 hollyhocks 👉 zinnias 👉 cucumbers 👉 and onions. If I could deliver one to your door, which would you choose?

I have lots of help in my garden. 👩‍🌾 My I have lots of help in my garden.
👩‍🌾 My mom was just here and helped me weed the ENTIRE THING yesterday but she didn’t want me to share her photo. Let’s just say the wind had whipped her hair into a bit of a Phyllis Dillar updo. 😂
🐈 Joining us … but MUCH less help … was Mini-Fluff, one of our neighbors’ cats. She doesn’t mind having her photo posted … I mean … just look at her!
🌺 Also I planted a tunnel of zinnias leading to the center of the garden. I can’t wait to see them in full bloom!

My go-to pasta salad … so simple I’ll give you My go-to pasta salad … so simple I’ll give you the recipe RIGHT HERE! We celebrated our granddaughter’s 1st birthday this weekend and this salad was, once again, a big hit.

Here’s what you need:
1) Pasta
2) @kraft_brand Roasted Red Pepper Salad Dressing
3) Fresh Veggies

For pasta I like to use tri-color rotini but you can use whatever you want … even frozen pasta like tortellini. Cook just short of time on package directions … pasta should be tender but not soft. Drain quickly and immediately toss with a little of the dressing. This will cool and add flavor to the pasta.

For veggies, I typically use tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, and peppers.

Good additions include: Kalamata olives, banana peppers, feta or mozzarella cheese, cubed hard salami or pepperoni slices.

When the pasta is completely cool, stir in veggies and add more dressing. Refrigerate. Before serving, add a little more dressing.

Why this particular dressing? Low calorie, low fat, high flavor! I also use this for marinating veggies and kabobs for the grill.

It’s a summer staple … just like this salad!

Enjoy!
I had so much fun this week setting up two small t I had so much fun this week setting up two small tablescapes at my friend, Rayna’s shop in Boone for this weekend’s @centraliowajunkjaunt!
This patriotic table was completely inspired by these gorgeous red, white & blue glasses that I spotted in her shop. Using simple white plates allows everything else to stand out, including the well -worn baseballs and softballs she had. Adding small bowls of caramel-cheese corn mix to each place, along with a small pinwheels is a way to draw people in to the table and feel welcomed!
I first put the red cloth napkins under the plates just folders into squares, but a quick Pinterest search provided the steps to a pinwheel napkin fold that is just too perfect for this table!
Wondering about the other table? I’m going to wait to share photos but you can see them both at @bittersweetbeginnings1020 in Boone this weekend!
Hint: it involves some plates I found at Goodwill and a lovely collection of items from the shop.
What’s your favorite part of the patriotic tablescape?
