Have you heard of a Godwink? What many people consider a “random coincidence”, I see as a moment where God speaks to you through an intriguing moment. I experienced a Godwink tonight. I’m spending a couple days in Decorah and didn’t have any specific plans for tonight. I decided to find a Lutheran church nearby that was having a Lent service. Finding one I went in and sat down. Opening the service booklet to see the insert for this week, I smiled. The message title was “Offer and Find Hospitality”. I knew right then I was where I was meant to be.

It was a PIE kind of night! I’m back in Decorah for for a meet-the-author dinner event sponsored by @dragonflybooks. @erinsoderbergdowning shared stories of inspiration and the writing journey for her book series “The Great Peach Experiment” which has two books on shelves now, a third being released on Tuesday, and a fourth in the works! The first in the series is titled “When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Peach Pie” so it was appropriate that we met at Kozi Pie Shoppe and feasted on sweet potato shepherd’s pie and peach pie. 🍑 🥧 ❤️

Did anyone else grow up having this Layered Lettuce Salad for Easter dinner? I’ve taken the liberty to make individual servings … and add a deviled egg half if you please … but my grandma always made hers in a 9x13 Tupperware pan. The super crisp lettuce, the tangy Mayo-based dressing, peas, bacon bits, green onions, and shredded cheddar cheese? Perfect for celebrations because it’s made the night before but it’s also as simple as can be for regular-old-weekdays too!
